Eva's Reading List

I decided to use the Unread Author challenge to get around to some books I mooched awhile ago. :)

Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
This was one of my very first mooches, since I think I'm the only one in the blogging community that hasn't read it yet! It keeps calling me from the bookshelf, but I've been distracted by challenge reads. It's time to make time to see what all the fuss is about. :)
A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters
I mooched this, because it sounded like a great mystery! I'm always ready to discover another good series.
That Night by Alice McDermott
I mooched this after a good review by litlove (I think it was litlove). It's a skinny read, but I'm looking forward to it.
Kim by Rudyard Kipling
I recently realised that the last Kipling I read was that mongoose story in 7th grade. Shame on me. Plus, I have to include at least one classic in the list!
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
The heft of this one makes up for the slimness of the McDermott. A friend recommended this to me, and I'm very excited to actually get around to it. My bookmooched copy is just gorgeous!
The Stolen Child by Keith Donahue
I didn't mooch this one; instead, I bought it when I saw it in paperback, because I was so excited. For some reason I thought it was still in hardcover!

Well, that sums up the plans. This month, I'm hoping to read A Morbid Taste for Bones-I'll post the review when I'm done!

I just mooched "A Morbid Taste for Bones" as well! I had read a lot of Ellis Peters when I was much younger, but when I wanted to dive into the series again at the beginning, I found that we had given away our lovely copy of the first book to someone. The one I mooched has the cheesiest possible cover - it looks like something from a low-budget production of "Camelot." Still, simply being in possession of the book again fills me with glee.

By the way, I think it is a lovely idea to organize the challenge around too long neglected mooches/acquisitions.

Poodlerat, I'm happy that you enjoyed Kim! I don't really know anything about it, so it should be interesting. :)

Pour of Tor, my cover's pretty interesting-it's stained glass window style. I figured if I didn't organise the challenge around too long neglected acquisitions, I'd just go get more books!

I LOVED the Stolen Child. I own it in hardcover, got it as a gift. I haven't read any of your other books so I look forward to the reviews.

Nice list, Eva. I listened to A Morbid Taste of Bones a couple years ago and really enjoyed it and several other books in that series.

I started Bel Canto for a f2f bookclub, but didn't finish it. I liked it, I just didn't finish in time for the meeting and haven't pushed myself to finish because there were too many others books 'chirping' at me.

Callista, ohh-glad to see a vote for The Stolen Child! I'm planning to read it next month, since it seems appropriate for Halloween.

Booklogged, I understand the 'too many books chirping' phenomenon! (that's a great verb choice, btw) That's why I like challenges-the extra incentive of 'striking' through the book title helps me finish it!
